The theme for Victoria's upcoming EDUCATION WEEK between the 19th and 25th May, LANGUAGES - EXPAND THEIR WORLD! - has given us the perfect opportunity to celebrate our love of language learning and our passion for sharing it with all our little linguists!

To help us spread this love of all things linguistic, our Victorian Fun Languages clubs will be running a fantastic competition for all existing club members and new children who attend a Fun Languages FREE TRIAL club session in Victoria during Education Week.

The lucky entrant will win a family pass (2 adults and up to 4 children) to wonderful Sovereign Hill Historical Park in Ballarat.

And with all our FUN French, Mandarin, Spanish, German and Italian clubs for children 2-12 years currently running in VIC, any aspiring linguists will have plenty of club options to choose from!

2. Attendance of any one of the Fun Languages clubs in VIC between 19th & 25th May (Education Week) qualifies you for entry.
3. There will be only one prizewinner.
4. Entries close on Saturday 25/5/13
5. The prize winner's name will be randomly drawn on Sunday 26/5/13.
6. The winner will be notified by email or phone (voice or text) on Monday 27/5/13 and announced on our website and Facebook page on Tuesday 28/5/13.
7. The prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable.
8. The winner agrees to the use of their and/or their child's image by LCF Fun Languages for publicity purposes.

19-25 May 2013 is Education Week in Victoria and we're so excited with the theme this year - Languages - Expand their world!  

In a state where over 40 percent of the population have at least one parent born outside of Australia and where more than 200 languages are spoken, Victoria is a dynamic, multicultural community which understands the enormous benefits for children who are engaged in learning a second, or third, language.  

Our Victorian FUN language clubs for kids have been sharing ideas and opportunities with Primary Schools and Kindergartens to celebrate Education Week this year and we're delighted to be showcasing the importance and lifelong benefits of children learning a second language as part of their education journey.

Our lessons have been developed by expert linguists and professional teachers and our play-based programs are filled with games, songs, craft, role-plays and other entertaining activities which are delivered by passionate teachers in an immersion style and which tap into a child’s natural desire for FUN and challenge.

Our activities in Education Week this year will include;
• Free language club sessions for some Clubs
• Lunchtime, before school and afterschool clubs
• Competitions
• Giveaways
• Dress ups
• ‘Bring a friend’ free vouchers
• Performances, games and lots of activities

Sunday 5 May to Saturday 11 May is State Education Week in Queensland!

The annual week-long celebration is an opportunity to   recognise the talent and achievements of students and teachers in state schools, and showcase their wonderful work to the wider community.  Schools across Queensland will celebrate the week by opening their doors to the community.

Mandarin for Kids, a bright future in a big world! 

Our LCF Fun Languages – "Mandarin for Kids" Clubs in Brisbane will take this opportunity to showcase our FUN way to teach Mandarin language to the wider Brisbane community with a FREE fun Chinese event in the Post Office Park in Brisbane city.  This event provides a special opportunity for all those aspiring "little linguists" to experience studying life in China and learn the Maths, Chinese, Music and Arts subjects in Mandarin Chinese through fun and interactive activities.

Theme: Studying in a School in China

Maths: Counting in Chinese
Chinese: Learn Chinese pictographs and design characters charts
Doing Chinese morning exercises
Music: Singing classical Chinese children’s songs
Chinese Arts: Paper cutting

Parents in Bendigo were thrilled to learn this term that their preschoolers were passing a significant milestone in their quest for Mandarin bilingualism.

Maggie, our Bendigo "Mandarin for Kids" teacher is moving the preschooler Mandarin clubs onto simple sentences. We've been learning lots of basic vocabulary over the past 12 months, nouns, verbs and tones. Bendigo kids have had a fantastic time practicing these Chinese 'words' in games, songs, craft and little role-plays.

We've performed our Tiger song for parents, made lots of origami, created body parts murals, played with dress up dolls, played angry birds swap card games in Chinese, learnt the Chinese version of 'paper rock scissors' game and played pretend 'shopping' games with shopping trays and baskets..... 

This term, the children will practice their 'joining words' and simple sentences to enable them to have a basic conversation in Mandarin. Wow!  Conversations in Mandarin with 2-5 year old kids. How exciting!

There are now nine "Mandarin for Kids" clubs in Bendigo and Ballarat, for both preschoolers AND primary aged children. Week days, afterschool clubs, weekday morning clubs, Saturday clubs - all allowing children to join in the fun Mandarin Chinese programs designed especially for kids.
